Simple Words

This post is dedicated to generous friends of mine: S. in DC and Mr. Concorde.

Today, a gentleman I haven’t heard from in almost 3 years, sent me a gift. Out the blue. It was nice to hear from him and having a strong memory, it was nice to pick up where we left off.

The most touching part of his act of kindness was that he said had lost his job but wanted to do something nice for someone, and he thought of me. It was a gift, he said. One of our common threads was the deep conversations we had about faith, philosophy and the desire to always strive to improve ourselves. It is an unforgettable moment when you realize how much you touch someone’s life in the way that he expressed.

Its not often that you meet people who truly give of themselves with no strings attached. These people are rare. I’m lucky that in my life, I have had the pleasure of knowing a few. What’s funny is that they share some of the same qualities: a curious and deep understanding of life and a deep faith.

The gesture is simple. The words are simple: thank you.

What I am listening to: Delta Spirit “devil knows your dead”

I'm a writer and a lover not a fighter, except if I really want something.
